Craig Bannerman Releases New Single "Unto The Death"
A solo artist originating from Melbourne, Australia, Craig Bannerman just released his latest single, "Unto The Death".
The track starts off with dramatic choir vocals and slow, reverb-heavy clean guitar melodies, quickly creating a powerful and intense atmosphere. Emphasized spoken vocals soon join the fray before making way for blast beats, rapid guitar riffage, and even stronger choir vocals take the forefront.
"Unto The Death" excellently balances the use of contrast between speeding thrash tempo sections and slowed atmospheres, creating two widely different sounds that keep the track fresh and interesting. Just after the 3-minute mark, Craig Bannerman catapults listeners into a classic heavy metal breakdown with frantic clashing cymbals and booming distorted guitar chugs. Followed by a soaring guitar solo, with an uplifting melodic sound, "Unto The Death" takes listeners on a musical journey through multiple emotions, a diverse range of powerful soundscapes, and Bannerman's signature thought-provoking spoken lyrics.
Craig Bannerman sets himself apart with his Christianity-inspired heavy metal sound. Bannerman will regularly draw from values of personal growth, introspection, and commitment while conveying powerful lyrics that pay homage to scripture and biblical themes. Throughout his work, Craig will utilize spoken lyrics that quote scriptures, creating a dramatic vocal style that provokes thought.
Craig has stated "This video follows the spiritual war between the accuser and the redeemed—beginning with the hatred of Satan against the children of God, the rejection of truth, and the call to surrender. The second half stands as a testimony of the martyrs—from the apostles to the persecuted saints of today—who held fast to their faith unto the death."
Craig creates a nostalgic mix of old-school thrash, heavy metal, and power metal that honors all-time greats of the genres while staying true to a distinctly modern and new sound.
"Unto The Death" takes inspiration from this Biblical quote, giving context to the song's name and its original ideology:
"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." – Revelation 12: 11
As a solo producer, Craig has utilized some of his favorite tools like Steinberg Cubase, Toon Track EZdrummer, Native Instruments Kontakt, and Neural DSP to discover and refine his craft.
Craig states:
Each song is not just a piece of music but a testimony—a heartfelt offering shaped by prayer and devotion.
