Post Death Soundtrack Releases "Immovable" + Exclusive Interview | The Metalverse

Vancouver act Post Death Soundtrack released their newest album "Veil Lifter" on April 16th. The album's standout track "Immovable" takes the listener on a nearly 9-minute journey, showcasing widely varied experimentation. The psychedelic doom grunge act starts off the song with haunting reverbed singing and booming drums before blasting into groovy heavy metal riffage, powerful singing, and explosive energy. Post Death Soundtrack creates crushing doom heaviness while still maintaining a strong focus on catchy vocal melodies.

After a soaring guitar solo, the song fades into silence as a distant phaser is introduced. Slowly the song builds into clean ambient guitar, welcoming a more progressive sound. The phaser continues to grow in volume for the finale before the song makes an exit. Listeners will enjoy the distinct sound of Post Death Soundtrack that balances brutality, melody, and grooving heavy metal riffage. You can stream "Immovable" on all platforms out now.

Interview

1: How would you describe your music?

"Heavy but artful metal, grunge, doom, thrash and punk informed by philosophy, spirituality and mental illness."

2: What are your biggest influences?

"Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Russian Circles, Faith No More, Mastodon, The Beatles, The Doors, Sepultura, Windhand, Queens of the Stone Age, The Stooges, Deftones, Opeth, YOB, Helmet, Slayer, Portishead, Skinny Puppy, Refused, too many to name."

3: What is "Immovable" about and what does it mean to you?

"This song is the centerpiece of the album. It's a sludge metal epic inspired by Eastern philosophy (Advaita Vedanta, Zen, Hinduism, etc). The metaphor is mainly about traveling through a 'pathless land' (J. Krishnamurti concept), then climbing up the Mountain of unbecoming...dropping your ego and attachments along the way like a coin down the well. It is dedicated to my father Ted George Moore (Rest in Peace)."

4: How did you form/when?

"Post Death Soundtrack was formed in 2006. It has had a revolving door of contributors. I am currently the sole member, and I collaborate with Casey Lewis of Echo Base Studios, who records, mixes, masters, and contributes live drums."

5: What is the story behind the name Post Death Soundtrack, or how did you come up with it?

"The meaning is two-fold. One meaning is it's the ripples you leave after you physically leave this life; how you affect the world, your loved ones, the movements or inspirations you take part in or initiate. The other meaning is, this is music for those who are dead to the false world, those who have wised up. This is not music for the lighthearted who just want something shallow to dance to."

6: What does the band enjoy outside of music?

"Philosophy, film, comedy (sketch comedy and stand-up), animals, specifically my black cats. Although this is still within the music realm, when I'm not writing or playing music, I'm a serious record collector and own 2,000 albums. I find it's a nice connecting ritual to have a friend over and share some records."

7: What’s next for Post Death Soundtrack?

"I'm currently writing album #5 and it's coming along very nicely. I plan for it to go into some heavier and stranger territory."
