Song Review: Neopera - “When Night Falls”

Neopera is a 6-piece metal act from Hamburg, Germany that mixes classical music with heavy metal. When Night Falls is from the band’s 2025 album Eternal Source—the track is just over 4 minutes and quickly introduces the bands signature symphonic and orchestral influences as bright strings fill in the atmosphere before leading into explosive guitar riffs and ferocious screams. Building a wildly dynamic extremely quickly, Neopera soon transitions into a stadium-ready chorus with opera style male and female vocals contrasting each other.
When Night Falls expertly blends music genres while not shying away from either metal or classical composition. Dark harpsichord melodies and emotional strings build an undeniably operatic and theatrical sound while hard-hitting metal, screams, and booming drum beats showcase the brutality of the band. Neopera showcases impressive clarity and polish throughout their music, utilizing masterful production, catchy song-writing and an intensely exciting sound that shows no fear of experimentation and uniqueness.
Blending classical music and heavy metal in one of the most interesting formats that we’ve heard, Neopera exhibits a powerful sound that fans of either genre will find incredibly interesting and enjoyable. You can stream When Night Falls out on all streaming platforms now.
