Review

American Metalcore act Rise To Ruin released their debut EP, The Alchemy EP on April 4th, 2025. The EP starts off with Rise which gradually builds as ambient pads and waterdrop synths soon make way for explosive guitar tones to introduce themselves. Suddenly the track bursts into full band destruction with racing tempos, speeding guitar leads, and ferocious screaming vocals. Rise To Ruin soon jump into an addictive chorus with soaring melodic singing and bright guitar chords that create a powerfully catchy soundscape.

Next up is Dead Sea which catapaults the listener straight into action from the get-go with fierce screams, booming guitar chugs, and impactful drums before soon transitioning into singing and dark guitar chords, creating an epic and grandiose vibe to the song. Dead Sea jumps into a heavy breakdown before leading into a thrashing, rapid-paced riffage. Rise To Ruin quickly craft a sound that masterfully blends modern metal and music production with a classic metalcore sound that reminds of acts like Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, and Killswitch Engage.

Track 3, Alchemy starts with atmospheric distorted guitar before building up with melodic singing that soon makes way for heavier instrumentals and hard-hitting screams. Rise To Ruin expertly utilizes contrast between melodic and heavy sections, showcasing versatility and the ability to create attractive instrumentals and vocals in both musical styles. Alchemy builds up with brutally heavy verses before switching into anthemic, infectious, choruses that will leave you coming back for more. Alchemy is in our opinion the standout track of the EP.

The final track Through Fire introduces itselfy with distant lofi orchestral strings before unexpectedly launching into fast-paced guitar harmonies, and screaming that alternates with theatrical singing. Once again Rise To Ruin strikes an excellent balance between brutality and melody with mixed vocal styles, soaring guitar leads that are contrasted by deep chugs, and dynmic drum work. Rise To Ruin, brings back a nostalgic 2000-2010s metalcore sound that fans of the genre will love while still staying true to the intricacies of modern metal production.

Overall, we are very impressed with Rise To Ruin's debut EP–its an exciting showcase, particularly for so early in the bands career. You can stream Rise To Ruin's debut EP The Alchemy EP out on all platforms now.
