Song Review: Therapy in Rhyme - "Opposite Game"
Therapy in Rhyme is a studio act with members worldwide, but mainly hailing from Norway. Founder Jan Helge Almås created the concept band, he states this when asked about Therapy in Rhyme's concept and lyrical meaning:
"The trilogy "Tragedy in Corruption" is a musical journey from classical elegance to the wrath of heavy metal, inspired by the traumas that arise when leaders fail their responsibilities, disregard laws and guidelines, and neglect to investigate misconduct. The tragedy is complete when they, instead of helping, boast about how far they will go to help. When no one apologizes or takes responsibility to prevent recurrence, this story becomes a reminder that betrayal is never forgotten or forgiven without an apology."
Therapy in Rhyme's single Opposite Game starts off with dramatic orchestral strings as an ominous narrator sets the tone for the song. The song soon transitions into dark guitar chords and soaring leads, as melancholy singing vocals join the fray. Chunky heavy metal guitar riffs are joined by thumping bass lines before suddenly, explosive growls and fry-screams are introduced, furthering the band's extreme metal sound. Clocking in at just under 5 minutes, Opposite Game showcases lyrical depth and a powerful assault of metal shreddage as vocals alternate between wildly heavy and addictively catchy singing.
After an outro featuring bouncing guitar riffs and layered male and female vocals, the narrator is reintroduced and fades out the song, bringing back the heavy theatrical elements.
Therapy in Rhyme shows no fear of experimentation, blending genres ranging from ballads, classical music, hard rock, and extreme metal, all while utilizing lyrical depth and thought-provoking concept themes. You can stream Therapy in Rhyme's track Opposite Game out everywhere now.
